EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY TEACAKE

If you haven’t baked in your lifetime, you can now try it. “TEA CAKE” is the most simple and easy recipe that you can follow. A teacake is generally a light yeast-based sweet bun containing dried fruit, typically served toasted and buttered. The recipe is 150 grams butter, 150 grams sugar, 3 eggs, ½ tsp vanilla essence, 1 ¼ tsp baking powder and 150 grams flour (maida). Well precisely talking about “tea cake” it's not a cake. In India, a teacake is more like a butter cake. Tea refers to the popular beverage to which these baked goods are an accompaniment. Well, if you want to know what it tastes like, it needs to have a faint trace of nutmeg, lightly speckled with vanilla bean and hints of lemon zest to play up all the flavours. ORIGIN OF TEA CAKE:- Tea cakes are mostly associated with the enslaved people of the South who baked them for slaveholders and their own families. When many of them left the South after the Civil War, they took their recipes with them; tea cakes have been baked and talked about in African American kitchens for generations. And so it is believed, ‘A soft piece of teacake and a conversation with a friend will surely be a mood lifter.’
